Each year the American Health Care Association dedicates a week to highlight and bring awareness to the nation's nursing homes, their residents and staff. This year, May 8th-14th was National Nursing Home Week with "Fulfill the Promise" as the theme. In honor of the occasion, Crestwood Care Centre held a week long "Luau Party", complete with music, entertainment and plenty of luau inspired activities. Residents and staff alike, gathered together to participate in the varied events, including Coconut Bowling, Hoola Hoop Contests and Beach Ball Volleyball. All of the activities were designed to allow for everyone to participate, including those using walkers and in wheelchairs. Live music and performers added to the festive atmosphere, encouraging many of the attendees to dance. Everyone agreed that the best part of the celebration was the staff and residents getting to participate together. Administrator, Judy Hoffman, said, "It was wonderful to see the staff dancing with the residents. Everyone was laughing and having a good time."
